Annemarie Nussbaumer appointed to the FINMA Executive Board

The Board of Directors of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA has elected Annemarie Nussbaumer as the new Head of the Strategic Services division. She holds a doctorate in law and is an attorney. She will take up her new role on
1 November 2023, taking over from Johanna Preisig, who will step down on 31 October 2023. 

The Board of Directors of FINMA has appointed Annemarie Nussbaumer as a member of the FINMA Executive Board and as Head of the Strategic Services division. Annemarie Nussbaumer will take up her new position on 1 November 2023, taking over from Johanna Preisig, who is leaving FINMA (press release) and will step down on 31 October 2023. 


Annemarie Nussbaumer has worked for FINMA since 2012.The 47-year-old lawyer, who holds a PhD in law, initially worked in the Enforcement division where she was involved in the implementation of the obligation to disclose shareholdings in listed companies and appeals against rulings of the Swiss Takeover Board. From 2016 she was in charge of international cooperation at FINMA and, as of 2019, headed up the Authorisation section in the Banks division. From 2022 she was Head of Supervision of Small Banks and Securities Firms. Prior to joining FINMA, Annemarie Nussbaumer worked as a lawyer for several years. 


Birgit Rutishauser, FINMA’s CEO ad interim, emphasises: “In Annemarie Nussbaumer we have appointed a lawyer and financial market expert with wide-ranging experience and a manager with a proven track record for the challenging task of further strategic development at FINMA. We would like to welcome Annemarie Nussbaumer to the Executive Board and look forward to working with her.”
