The framework for the appointment of staff at FINMA

FINMA’s Personnel Ordinance governs the employment conditions of all staff members who work for the Financial Market Supervisory Authority.
FINMA employs its staff under public law contracts. FINMA’s Personnel Ordinance primarily governs the start and end of employment relationships and protection against dismissal. It includes the basic principles on the salary system, obligations regarding the continued payment of salaries, as well as working hours and holidays.

FINMA’s Personnel Ordinance also defines the principles on secondary employment and public offices, as well as obligations relating to loyalty and conduct. These have been defined by the Board of Directors in the Code of Conduct.
FINMA’s Personnel Ordinance was passed by FINMA’s Board of Directors and approved by the Federal Council. FINMA may issue implementing regulations based on FINMA’s Personnel Ordinance.
