Market data collection

In addition to direct and indirect supervision, FINMA also collects market data on different topics in the areas of asset management and collective investment schemes.

FINMA uses data collected from licence holders or the Swiss National Bank for risk assessment and market analysis purposes. The reason for collecting this data is to obtain an accurate overview of the financial service providers in the Swiss market and to identify trends and developments at an early stage. In addition, FINMA uses data provided by financial data providers.

FINMA collects business data annually from fund management companies, managers of collective assets, SICAVs and limited partnerships for collective investment (LPs) (GB-A Data collection). It also collects data at the individual fund level as part of the reporting on collective investment schemes. In addition, FINMA conducts an annual cross-sector data collection exercise on asset management activities at all.

The FINMA collects the data electronically via the survey and application platform (EHP).
