FINMA uses data collected from licence holders or the Swiss National Bank for risk assessment and market analysis purposes. The reason for collecting this data is to obtain an accurate overview of the financial service providers in the Swiss market and to identify trends and developments at an early stage. In addition, FINMA uses data provided by financial data providers.
FINMA collects business data annually from fund management companies, managers of collective assets, SICAVs and limited partnerships for collective investment (LPs) (GB-A Data collection). In addition, FINMA also collects data at the individual fund level (Reporting on collective investment schemes).
The FINMA collects the data electronically via the survey and application platform (EHP).
