Periodic collection of data

As part of its supervisory activities, FINMA periodically collects relevant data from the institutions it supervises in line with the requirements set out in financial market law and the Financial Market Supervisory Act (FINMASA). Upon request, supervised institutions are also obliged to provide FINMA with additional information and to meet their regulatory reporting requirements.

FINMA obtains relevant data from banks, securities firms and financial groups for its supervisory activity.

The web-based survey platform (EHP) allows FINMA to electronically collect supervisory data directly from banks, securities firms and financial groups or indirectly from their regulatory audit firms.

The SNB also collects data in electronic form, which it verifies and prepares before forwarding to FINMA. FINMA treats all data – whether collected via the EHP or from the SNB – as confidential.

The SNB publishes explanations regarding the survey documents on its website.
