The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA is making changes to its circular on "Credit risks – banks" (FINMA-Circ. 2008/19 (in German)). It is intended to clarify the points which were previously undefined regarding the way in which banks with credit risks must deal with central counterparties. The changes will be based on the standards recently adopted in this area by the Basel Committee. Apart from the changes already announced in the FINMA press release of 18 July 2012, the Circular includes some additional minor corrections and adjustments. The Circular will come into force as planned on 1 January 2013.
