IOSCO Technical Committee Conference in Basel 2009

FINMA's strategic goals for 2010 – 2012 have been approved by the Federal Council. In so doing, the Federal Council has declared its support for FINMA's strategic positioning. FINMA's seven thematic areas will form the basis for concrete initiatives and projects which are due to be implemented in the next three years.
The annual Technical Committee Conference will be held October 8-9, 2009, in Basel. Every year a different member of the Technical Committee is responsible for organising the conference. The Technical Committee comprises Switzerland and the 17 other most important global financial centres. It is thus a great honour to be chosen to host the conference. The previous IOSCO TC Conferences were hosted by New York, Frankfurt, London and Tokyo.

The overall objective of the IOSCO TC Conferences is to promote dialogue between the main securities regulators and key stakeholders in the financial industry (financial institutions, investors, professors, exchanges, financial intermediaries, auditing companies, etc.). The environment in which this dialogue is taking place is particularly challenging this year, as is reflected by the theme of the conference: "Securities regulation in and after the crisis". Specialists from around the world will address a number of different issues surrounding this theme in four panel discussions.
