The Secretariat

The Commission has a permanent secretariat available to it whose employees are subject to legislation pertaining to Federal employees. Currently the SFBC has a total staff of 160 persons. The average age of the staff members is 40. The educational background of staff members can be analysed as follows:
  • 32 % lawyers
  • 23 % economists, business managers, mathematicians, other university graduates
  • 16 % certified public accountants, other professional accountants, banking specialists
  • 15 % commercial professions
  •   6 % graduates with specialist degrees / higher commercial education
  •   3 % IT-Specialists
  •   5 % other professions

The Secretariat prepares the business to be transacted by the Commission, submits motions to it and implements the Commission's decisions. It deals directly with the institutions subjected to its supervision and other participants. The Commission may request the Secretariat to issue rulings on its behalf on certain matters.
