Swiss Banking Commission orders freeze and reporting on terrorist accounts and investigates insider trading
The Swiss Federal Banking Commission (SFBC) today orders all Swiss banks and securities' dealers under its supervision to track down banking relationships maintained with individuals and organisations listed by the U.S. President last week for being linked to terrorism. All such business relationships have to be reported to the Money Laundering Reporting Office, and funds are to be frozen. Supervision of conglomerates: Swiss control authorities extend their supervising activity
The Federal Office for Private Insurance (FOPI) and the Swiss Federal Banking Commission (SFBC) consolidate in the future their supervising activity over financial conglomerates with heavyweight within the insurance area which are holding participations in the bank and financial area. An appropriate supervision concept has been developed in the last two years and is to be set up gradually in the second half-year.
