The Commission
The Commission, which is appointed by the Federal Council, consists of seven to eleven members who must be experts and meet certain conditions regarding independence (art. 23 para. 5 BankA). Their term of mandates is four years (the current ends on December 31, 2007). The Commissioners - with the exception of the president - have other professional activities and meet on average once a month. The internal organisation and management of the SFBC are laid down in organisational rules. In addition, the Commissioners as well as the members of the secretariat have prohibited themselves from undertaking transactions for their own account in securities of institutions subjected to its supervision as well as in securities of listed companies about which it has non-publicly available information.
