Qualitative Risk Management
The Qualitative Risk Management section focuses on qualitative means for assessing companies, with emphasis on corporate governance, risk management and internal controls. A primary tool developed toward this end is the Swiss Quality Assessment (SQA), which was used to question more than 160 companies over the course of 2008. The insights learned are integrated into the supervisory process and risk dialogues are held with companies or they receive written feedback. The scope of review and assessment methodology are reviewed based on this experience. The Qualitative Risk Management section is also responsible for reviewing the qualitative and organisational aspects of the internal models used for the SST. In addition it deals with general issues relating to risk management systems (within the meaning of Pillar II of Solvency II) and companies' reporting duties, including disclosure (Pillar III). The section now also includes the Reporting and Investments group (REKA).
