The Supervision of Insurance Groups section supervises insurance groups managed from Switzerland. Supervision is conducted at group level as well as at individual company level. At present there are nine insurance groups subject to Swiss supervision. The main goals are to ensure solvency at group level, to monitor group-internal transactions, and to assess corporate governance, risk management and internal control processes. As most of the groups subject to supervision are internationally active, this section works closely with foreign supervisory authorities and international bodies such as the
International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), the Financial Stability Board and the
Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS).
