Strategic Services and International Affairs
The Strategic Services and International Affairs section manages and coordinates FINMA's policy, regulation, international activities and links to international financial institutions as a cross-cutting function. It manages and is responsible for policy and regulatory projects that affect multiple divisions. In addition, Strategic Services develops and operates a transparent, integrated policy and regulatory process that takes account of and in turn influences international developments. It also formulates the basis for strategy development at FINMA and bears responsibility for the management, review and enhancement of financial market regulation in FINMA's spheres. A team of economists works closely with other entities, such as the Swiss National Bank, to monitor macroeconomic trends and develop proposals for supervision based on their findings. A group of business economists and statisticians develops and operates an early warning and KPI system and provides the market with the resulting aggregated data. Another group coordinates international cooperation and the administrative assistance that FINMA lends to foreign supervisory authorities and takes charge of the necessary administrative assistance proceedings.
